Fake Face to the World
The word “surviving” has changed meanings slightly over the years. In today’s world surviving doesn’t just deal with having food, clothing, and shelter, but another factor has been added. To survive you must be accepted into the “crowd” which isn’t as easy as it sounds. People today judge you from the first time they meet you and it usually isn’t by your personality. Today people judge you on how you dress and if you are “pretty” enough. So to be able to fit in this world of conceited humans, people have stopped being themselves and started living a lie. It is all about who has the latest fashion and who hides their true beauty the best by depending on their external beauty. People use this tactic of personal appearance appeal to gain friends, jobs, connections, and even to help with the dating realm. If you have to put on a face in front of your friends then it is not a true friendship because the other person really has no idea who you are. Today people will go to all measures to improve their personal appearance putting on a fake face to the world, just to be able to fit into the “crowd” of malicious, judging individuals.
To keep up the “perfect” personal appearance there are no lengths an individual won’t go to. I have known people to spend two thousand dollars on a purse or two hundred dollars on a new hair style and mind you these aren’t movie stars, these people are just ordinary people like you and I. The sad thing with this is that some people do not realize that they are doing it to fit in because they have been “brainwashed” into thinking that this is just the way things are. Either consciously or unconsciously they are doing it to be apart of the crowd. For some people this is how they were raised so they do not know the difference.
Spending lots of money on clothing, shoes, or accessories, spending hours at unnecessary nail and hair appointments, and even spending un-needed time putting on a “fake” face and smile with make-up are just some of the ways people have resorted to, to follow the crowd and be welcomed in. If only these people could understand that being happy in this world is as simple as having someone appreciates who you are without having to put on a face to have people like you.
It may seem like I am stereo-typing here saying that people who spend all this time and money on these things are all fake and hide their true selves, but that is not true. I am not saying that everyone who spends lots of money is someone who doesn’t show their true face, but the majority of people are. One of my best friends is someone who spends lots of money on things but it does not show in her personality and she is so surreal about everything.
I may be all wrong about all of this, maybe people who do live this lifestyle are truly happy but to me it seems that there is no way they could be because they are hiding the personality that makes them think the way they think and operate the way they do. If only the human race didn’t call for people to put on “a fake face to the world” to feel accepted. Maybe one day people will realize that going to the endless measures they do to feel accepted are not needed and that all is truly needed is not accept people for their personality and view of life.

Alyssa's Face to the World
When I walked into Alyssa’s room I got a strong sense of chic. Everything including decorations and accessories was elegant and fashionable. She also owned many popular and fashionable perfumes to add to my assumption of her being chic. Now on to her room, her bedroom was organized and neat and a nice scent to it suggesting that she keeps things picked up and cleaned on a regular bases. The room was decorated with many colorful items suggesting that her personality is very colorful as well. Along with all of the many decorations she has in her room, she had many pictures of her friends and family showing that she is close to the people that love her. Also with her many pictures and other colorful decorations, she had many things representing her sorority, alpha phi, and how involved in it she is. She seems to be very into a social events and being with others but I also get a very serious vibe from her work station that shows that she is into getting through school with good marks and being able to get a good job once school is over.
From just reviewing Alyssa’s life through her room, one of her many faces to the world; I have found that Alyssa is an extremely outgoing girl who is a great friend to everyone and very into sisterhood and sticking together. She also seems to have a colorful personality which makes her likable to everyone who she comes across in her life.

My room is one of the main ways that I reveal myself to the world, although not the whole world sees it of course. My room is my space to display everything that is important to me. I have my artwork on display, memorabilia from various sports games that I have participated in, and various items from the many concerts and events that I have attended. It also has just about anything that I have ever been given by someone else because when I am given a gift no matter if I like it or not I keep it because I always feel bad getting rid of it, but even if I don’t like it to begin with, I usually find some creative way to use it as decoration in my room showing my artistic, imaginative side.
All of these things that I have on display in my room show some side of my personality and I believe that with everything I have in my room all sides to me are revealed in my room. I have many sports trophies and medals in my room showing that I am very athletic and enjoy good competition. Showing off all of my artwork in my room shows one that I am confident in my abilities as an artist and I am proud of the pieces that I create. My various collections that I have acquired from concerts and such show off that I am not “prejudice” against any style of music because I have things from all kinds of concerts from country to rap to heavy metal to even Irish punk rock! One of the things I have abundance in my room of is pictures of my friends and family. Every shelf, dresser, or table in my room has pictures of my friends on them. I even have pictures posted on my walls. My friends and family mean everything to me. Without them I would not be who I am today.
When I take someone in my room whom has never been in there before they spend a good amount of time going through my room looking at all the pictures and artwork I have on display. This makes me feel good because the faces I present to the world are interesting to others and make an impact on them.
