Research Plan

For my proposal paper I am going to write a paper proposing that the ways of helping women who are victims of domestic abuse need to be improved. I have done a sufficient amount of research on this topic already so I have the main points of my paper decided. My main points will be the following:

- Discussing the damage domestic abuse does to everyone involved, even by standers such as children.

· Statistics of the victims (The New England Journal of Medicine)

· Psychological evaluations of victims. (The New England Journal of Medicine)

- How doctors need to be educated better on how to spot and deal with domestically abused women.

· What the doctors are doing now.

· What they should do to make it better for the women. (British Medical Journal)

- How to improve the laws that deal with domestic abuse.

· The loop holes in the current laws. (Feminist Legal Studies)

· How they should be fixed to improve them. (Feminist Legal Studies)

- How to educate the social workers who deal with these women, better.

· How social workers are involved with these victims, what role they play.

· How they could be better educated, what do they need to be taught? (Journal of Social Work Education)

- How to insure that the police officers do a better job with dealing with domestic abuse cases.

· How cases like these are handled now. (Journal of Criminal Justice)

· How they need to change the way they pursue the case. (Journal of Criminal Justice)

- Proposing to build more safe shelters for women who are victims of domestic abuse.

· How many shelters exist now and how they help. (Defending Our Lives)

· How many should exist to be affective. (Defending Our Lives)
